JANUARY 23, 2008 - CONSTITUTION CHANGES
The changes made to this organization's Constitution were passed by the Board of Directors at the Winter Meeting on January 23, 2008. In other news at this meeting, the 130 & Below weight class was changed to 140 pounds and below, and the 145 pound class was changed to 150 pounds. All of this information is included in the Constitution.
It was also determined that the JV level of our competitions would NOT compete in the vertical jump this year. All JV lifters will compete in the STANDING BROAD JUMP in both Region and State level meets. Varsity lifters will still compete in the vertical jump
Mike Srock of Byrnes HS was selected to become the new SCHSSCA President when Mark Wade's tenure ends in July. If you are not getting the email updates of our Association, please email me.
If you see a typo or mistake, please send me an email so I can fix it!

THE MOST CONFUSING RULE INTERPRETATION......SQUAT
At the January meeting, a new interpretation of the squat rules was read and changed in the constitution. The main focus was on the term "parallel" and how it is to be interpreted by coaches and judges. The new interpretation of a parallel squat now reads as:
"All
squats must be at least parallel.
Parallel will be determined
by the line of sight from the middle of an athlete's hip joint to the middle
(hinge point) of the athlete's knee."
